Next door lived my grandfather's sister, Louisa. She was an avid vegetable and flower farmer, whom I admired greatly for her commitment to community agriculture. From her snow white hair down to her gardening shoes, I wanted to be just like her when I grew up! Now that I have my very own farm, I have the opportunity to step into those gardening shoes and get my hands dirty, learning everything I can about non-GMO farming to create a wonderful legacy of fresh produce for my own growing family and the community we live in! This winter, my dream became a reality! I took the old wood burner from the barn and modified it with a 3-section evaporator pan for boiling down the sap. I spent hours boiling down all the many gallons of sap we collected into buckets, producing the sweetest, most pure maple syrup around!
